A question about this place:
Where would you recommend I got when I'm in town for two days?? Why would you argue that Minneapolis is better than St. Paul?

Whirlwind tour. It’s been about 6 years since I was in Mpls. I have lived in both Mpls and Saint Paul. Since I don’t know what you are into I will recommend some general things that I think are fun.

Fun Bar/ bowling

Check out Bryant Lake Bowl, great food, drinks and bowling if you like.

Walker Art Center

Lake CAlhoun (and surrounding lakes)
start at Calhoun and rent blades, a bike or a canoe. Travel around the connected lakes. It’s beautiful and fun!

Wedge Co-op
Tao Foods

Two health food oriented places that I love to visit! Great food!

Hair Police on Lake Street
Get a mohawk and dye your hair purple, finish it off with a tattoo and a piercing….or not!

Visit Dinkytown (college area) and the U of M campus.

I grew up in Saint Paul, it’s quieter and calmer than Mpls….I think it’s beautiful but… you only have 2 days.

Have fun!!! If I knew what you were into I could tailor my suggestions.

Thanks so much for your suggestions. I’ll definitely check out Hell’s Kitchen. I’m looking for any great spots (like what you stated) that tourists don’t necessary go to or that are touristy for a good reason. Also tasty cultural places to eat. :)

Can you give more info about what you’re into? Food, shopping, museums, relaxation, outdoors stuff?

No matter what you’re into, please please go to Hell’s Kitchen for brunch. (It’s in DT Mpls.) I miss the heck out of it since moving away.

Ah, I forgot about Hell’s Kitchen, loved that place! I second Bedhead’s suggestions of Lake Calhoun (or Lake Harriet is lovely too) and the Walker Art Center, which has a great sculpture garden. Love the Minnesota Institute of Arts also. There’s not as much to do in St. Paul as in Minnie, though it’s lovely.

I agree with those above, that while St Paul is lovely there is usually less to do than in Minneapolis. If you’re into outdoorsy things Lake Calhoun, Minnehaha Falls and the Stone Arch Bridge area are nice. For eats, I would suggest Broder’s Pasta Bar, Punch’s Pizza, or Matt’s Bar (for the famous Juicy Lucy). If you want to try some killer cheese curds, check out Chris & Robb’s. And the Mall of America is always a sight to behold (and great for people watching). Enjoy your stay!

You should list things that you are interested in and we can tell you more. I love Lake Calhoun and Lake of the Isles, if you want to see people-do lake Calhoun. If you want to see more trees and houses, I recommend Lake of the Isles. I prefer Lake of the Isles. Is there a particular food you are interested in having? I also prefer MPLS, but it all depends on what you are interested in seeing. Will you be here on the weekend or during the week? There are some great places to have Sunday Brunch. Also, when are you coming? There might be something great to do in town at the time. I recommend the sculpture garden, it is free and you get great pics of MPLS. You can take your picture downtown with the Mary Tyler Moore statue too.
