A question about this place:
“I'm going back in July, What's the best place to stay? I think camping's out of the question.”

The park website has some info: http://www.nps.gov/crla/planyourvisit/things2know.htm

All the places appear to be closed now, but of course that will be different in July.

If you can’t camp, there is a lodge at the rim of Crater Lake. It looks really nice, but I don’t know how expensive it is. Depending on where you’re driving from, there are a lot of towns and small cities within an hour and a half from there (Klamath Falls, Medford, Chemult).

Beware if you go in July because depending on the snow pack, the entire rim may not be open yet and the boat to Wizard Island may also still be closed. Call ahead, but Crater Lake is worth visiting anytime of the year.
