it is SUPER easy to find a crabbing job. Literally, show up on dock, and the captains will be fighting over the hired hands.

Do you know which part in Alaska are the jobs?I rather ask a person who had experience with this instead the looking at the internet.

I’m not sure exactly when the season starts in which areas. Do a little research on the internet. I do know that it is very, very easy to get a crabbing job. So good luck, and have fun!

not sure about northwest but crabbing was closed last summer in SE AK. Need to check in the area you are going to be in first.

I don’t know where some of these folks are getting their information, but crabing jobs (like on Deadliest Catch) are NOT easy to get. They mostly go to people with family connections or relevant experience. Other fisheries jobs are much easier to get. The most common are in processing; the so-called slime line. I suggest you check with the Alaska Job Service folks for details.

It can be easy to get a crabbing job, but assuming you luck out and get one by just showing up, you will likely land yourself in a job that involves on-board processing. It’s fast and furious and dangerous… don’t know a lot of processors with 100% functional hands… If part of why you wanna do it because you need money, just ask yourself whether it’s worth a hand/arm/finger.
