A question about this place:
Please recommend honeymoon ideas in Malaysia in January.

try east malaysia (Cherating) for beaches – there’s a club med there. Also Pulau Pangkor is a great islannd off the west malaysian coast. If you prefer rainforests and a more ethnic type of vacation with beaches – Sabah or Sarawak on Borneo is pretty cool too.

For shopping – the best place would be Kuala Lumpur.

Hey

Thanks a lot for the advice. How does Langkawi compare to the above? Especially honeymoons. We are more into the beaches and shopping than rainforest.

Langkawi’s a pretty good bet for beach and shopping, but I agree with Prema. KL’s still the best in variety. But if you’re looking for local produce like handprinted batik, Malaysian crystal, local handicraft and small industry food products … you will find them all here.

Agree Langkawi is the best place for a breather, especially for a honeymoon.I have been there several times. I love the island for its natural charm and beaches.Of course the seafood.

yeah…
i would say u can choose either to go to pangkor island and stay in pangkot island which is a private resort which is really really nice or even to tioman islan – if u are into beaches….anyhow if u are goin to langkawi then u can go there as well as langkawi is such a nice place too. u can stay at four season hotel which probably a bit expansive yet it is very very nice…..

In east malaysia, you can stay at one of the luxury resorts like Nexus Karambunai and do some hiking up mount kinabalu and some white water rafting.

There are some really splended hotels in Kuala Lumpur,... if you’re planning to stay for a long time, and want an apartment-ish place to hang out, check out Micasa apartments….. really nice. The restaurant downstairs is top notch (and pricey).

You can also try the Equatorial hotel, which is close to a lot of exciting stuff around KL, and you get a really decent place to stay.

as for beaches, I’m a scuba diver, and there are a lot of nice white beaches for:

snorkelling/beaches…..
Pulau Redang (check out Berjaya Resort)
Pulau Perhentian
Pulau Tioman
Pulau Langkawi (lots of nice beach resorts)
Club Med at Cherating?

scuba diving…..
Pulau Tenggol (rough it out just a little)
Pulau Redang
Pulau Sipadan (the BEST)
Pulau Layang Layang

You should just plan for a few days/weeks on the beach and a few days for shopping and sights in KL.
