Visit lots of art galleries, especially at SCAD and the downtown market. Walk through all the squares and Forsyth park (don’t take a tour bus). Eat at Il Pasticcio, Vinnie Van Go-Go’s, the Firefly Cafe, and Nita’s Place. Drink at Pinkie Master’s.

Yeah, I haven’t lived here long enough to know “off the beaten path”, really. However, I’ve visited many pubs and bars here. I especially like The Rail, near City Market, where you’ll find “Spirits & Spirits”. Tybee Island is a great place to walk at night, especially near the Tybee Times, where you can get an extremely strong frozen drink. The beach is great, especially at night, when there aren’t many people walking around. The Hangfire, near Whitaker and Congress, is cool, as well. The Mellow Mushroom, close to Liberty and Bull, has great pizza and an incredible beer selection. It’s a chain restaurant, though, no matter how local it seems. You can find it on Google Maps. In fact, check out the Google Maps search for “Beer Taverns near Savannah, GA”. If you want to go a little bit out of the way, or are on your way to Tybee, then stop in Thunderbolt, for Tubby’s Tankhouse, where you can eat and drink outside. It’s really hoppin’ on Thursday nights. If you need more info from me, then go ahead and message me on gmail (docrivs).

My husband and I have lived in Savannah for the past three years. Savannah is a tourist city and it’s difficult to find too many places where tourists aren’t hanging out. Savannah’s best attraction is the food.
I would agree with above comments: for pizza go to Mellow Mushroom, Stop at Tubby’s in Thunderbolt.
If you go to Tybee visit the Sundae Cafe. It’s in a strip mall behind a gas station, so it looks sketchy but the fish tacos are awesome! If you go to Tybee go to the South Beach, but go past the Pier as far as you can. There are usually only a few people on that end so you can really enjoy the beach and take time to explore.
Try Barbara Jean’s. The food is good southern cookin and I definately recommend the coconut shrimp.
Have coffee at Gallery Espresso.
Go kayaking. You can rent kayaks anywhere around the islands. You would want to do that in the early morning otherwise it will be too hot.
If you like animals go to Oatland Island.
Visit the Starland Farmer’s Market (Sat 9-noon).
Check out what’s playing/showing at The Lucas Theatre.
Feel free to email me if you have any more questions.
Have fun! and watch out for the Heat and Humidity!!

Since you’re from Orlando, you may consider Pedicabs as “touristy”.
Many of the ‘cabbers in Savannah are actually architectural history majors at SCAD and can give you one of THE best tours of old Savannah(the whole reason Sherman didn’t burn the place to ashes). I would recommend taking the time to ride a rickshaw here, go to a graveyard or two, and maybe just wander the streets for a few hours in the morning. Savannah is a beautiful place with tons of history… Or you could just get drunk at some local dive, or both. Enjoy your time here and DO get outside of the city to experience the local ecology.
Also, anyone who went to “Benedictine” is a true, OLD school, local. It’s a military school with a very long history in the area. Score some brownie points with very select locals by having heard of it. http://www.bcsav.net/display.cfm?pageID=3

You could go tour the birthplace of Juliette Gordon Low. She was the founder of the Girl Scouts of the USA.
