A question about this place:
What is the cheapest accomodation in helsinki? I've already found "Stadium Hostel" with prices 35dollars/night but still am looking for something cheaper. Thank you for help!

I don’t know a better place but I did stay at Stadium Hostel and really didn’t like it- they let a drunk guy into the room at 1 am who proceeded to swear at himself loudly for an hour before sleeping.

I’d say don’t worry too much about drunks in Finland. They may look nasty or weird but they are rarely violent or dangerous.

This is a good web site to look for accommodation in Helsinki:

Finland is quite expensive country in that respect.

You have probably found the cheapest accomodation, unless you want to sleep in a tent (http://www.camping.fi/template_page1.asp?lang=3&s=528&sua=2) or on somebody’s sofa/floor (http://www.hospitalityclub.org/). Helsinki is the 7th most expensive city in the world, and this is one way it shows. :)

I think I tentatively offered you a stay at our place, at least for some of the time. That’s pretty much as cheap as possible. Contact me for more detail.

If you’re a big group an Omena hotel might work out real cheap and it’s much nicer than a youth hostel.

But if you’re from the US you’re unlucky with the weak dollar – everything might seem disproportionately expensive now… Unfortunately…

The Stadium Hostel is about as cheap as it gets in Helsinki. 35 dollars/19 euros for a bed in a dormitory.

But there are these webpages that network people who are willing to accomodate others for free. The catch is that you have to do the same thing too if you join. I don’t remember what this phenomenon is called though. Maybe someone else has a webpage to mention?

I just found out what that webpage thing is called: Couch Surfing

Absolutley the cheapest way to accomodate oneself throughout the world.
