My uncle lives in Venice and has mentioned some things about how it has changed, mostly for the worst. He is really bothered by the tourism, that’s all Venice is now, a tourist trap. Everywhere you turn, a little stand with t-shirts and souvenirs. I don’t know a lot about the water levels and how that effects them, but he sure did share his strong view on tourism.

Tourist hell!! It would be a wonderful place to visit if you didn’t have to deal with wall to wall tourists. We stayed in a really nice hotel on its own island, so that was a nice escape. I wouldn’t bother spending more than 2 days in Venice.

I live in Venice…no sinking here…not soon anyway. Well,I know we’re going down a bit every year,and our Major is trying to spend all the public money building up a wall in the sea that will block the water….i think it’s pretty lame and probably not going to work,but maybe it’s just because I’m venetian(a.k.a. just let it be)
