sorry havent stayed there. I cant even remember the name of the place I stayed. As far as dishes go, thai people are into putting a whole lot of different tastes into their dishes.. its a feast for the palate.. Everyone is going to recommend the thai green curry.. as personally I believe it to be their trademark dish…
Oh and in the airport they have a pain in the ass way of giving you a “visa” to enter the country as in they’ll send you to a self potrait photo booth thing to take some photos and all this other hoola hooey.. dont be bogged by it.. despite the long lines.. you will get past it! :)
Mmm there is this jewelry factory thing that they have about 20 minutes drive from the city.. that place is a feast for the eyes.. i have never seen so many precious stones in one place.. :) its definitely a must see!
I was really sick for most of my trip so i dont really remmeber much else! hope that was helpful
xoxo
ps I think they have death penalty for importing drugs into the country

I didn’t stay there, but we did go there twice for the food. If you do stay (or even if you don’t), you should try Sala Rim Naam for very authentic Thai and a great show.
The Mandarin Oriental is absolutely beautiful. The inside is very large and they have a restaurant (buffet) outside on a terrace by the Chao Phraya.
I can’t tell you anything about the beds, but, if they’re the same as anything else, it would be the height of luxury.

yes, I stayed at the Mandarin Oriental—it’s a wonderful hotel. All of the rooms have river views but see if you can request one of the rooms with a small balcony. They recently re did the pool and on the weekends they had a really fantastic thai bbq dinner.
Definitely try Thai green curry but keep in mind that Thai food in Thailand is way more spicy than it is in other countries.
In terms of the photo visa, I actually didn’t need one in Thailand though I did in Cambodia. In order to avoid lines it helps to go the embassay and take care of that before you travel.
In Bangkok I highly recommend Sirocco (amazing views) and Bed Supperclub is also fun.
If you like Asian art I recommend asking your concierge to try to get you into the Prasart estate. Gorgeous house and an amazing private art collection.

I didn’t stay there but we did go for cocktails and jazz at the Bamboo Bar in the hotel. The hotel was spectacular, and I’ve heard from friends who stayed there that it was one of the most sumptuous hotel experiences they’d ever had.
I also second the Bed Supperclub as a fun night out.

We didn’t stay there but went for drinks on New Years Eve. It is a 5 star hotel. Absolutely beautiful with exquisite service. If you don’t stay there, you must stop in for a few drinks, even if it is just coffee or tea.
