Lived there for three months last year and I found it as difficult at times to find out about events. Seems online listings aren’t quite up to speed (and probably a lot to do with the cost of access there).

Anyways, your best luck online would be to search myspace and maybe facebook. Other than that, when you get there check out the main street in Observatory and Long STreet downtown, those are probably the most likely areas to have music/concert listings/etc. If you’re staying at a hostel I’m guessing that might have listings as well.
