Cost of Living.. I think it’s getting a bit high because of all the buzz with the students there (I used to be one of them!) The quality of life is slower.. If you live in Savannah.. people are riding their bikes.. going around the 21 squares that are placed amongst the beautiful Historic Houses. It’s the largest Historic District on the East Coast. The beach is 15 minutes away. Charleston, SC is hour and half. It’s RIGHT on the river so the water is really close. The only stinky thing is just that.. there’s a paper mill closeby so sometimes the whole town has a funky smell.. Weirdly you get used to this smell quickly.. and it doesn’t bother you. It’s the south.. humid and hot.. which is nice if you like the heat.. and not so nice if you don’t. I can go on.. feel free to email me if you wish.. :) I would move back there in a heart beat! Savannah is becoming a very arty town… so theres always things to do.. places to eat.. it’s awesome..

Hmmmm Sweet Tea. I was actually born in Fort Benning but came to California when I was very young.
I would probably look to rent a place there-maybe a sublet would be the way to go. What do you think a one bedroom would go for? Are there areas to avoid? I don’t mind the heat too much although humidity can be like napalm-it sucks the oxygen out the air. :)
Thanks for responding.

Um.. well I was there between 1997-1999 and I am spoiled.. my dad bought the house I lived in.. (I Know.. I was lucky) But we originally went to look for a place to rent.. I would look on Craigslist (http://savannah.craigslist.org/apa/) to see that the range is.. for rent. I would stay in the Historic District.. Southside is a bit farther away.but I think housing is cheaper.. Good luck!

Savannah is so great. I’ve visited several times, and all I know is if my poor artsy friends can make it there, you can too. The pace of Southern life is at its most relaxing there, and the humidity is at its thickest. Seriously. But it’s all worth it. Lovely town.
