A question about this place:
Hi there, I will be visiting Portugal sometime at the end of November to early part of December. What are some places that you would recommend to visit in Portugal. I am afraid I only speak English and very basic French. What are some of the must-see

Hi! I visited only some parts of Portugal but I really liked (in this order) Porto, the Algarve zone (in the south), Lisboa and Evora.
I traveled without travel agencies because I hate them :) but I found a lot of interesting information on the Lonely Planet guide. if you don’t want to buy it, just go to the bookshop and look up for some accomodation, usually they have interesting places to stay with cheap price. Some years ago I slept with 20 euros in Lisboa and 15 in the Algarve! :)
hope you enjoy Portugal!! see you

I would HIGHLY recommend Sesimbra. It’s a small coastal town Southwest of Lisbon that is just magical. There is a special flower that only blooms at night there, which smells amazing. Plus, if you rise early enough (or stay out late enough) you can use your nose to lead you to the local baker who provides bread to the whole town and purchase a few fresh loaves for pennies on the dollar.
As for restaurants? My best friend and I stayed with another friend, who is a local, and he recommended not to eat at the main ‘touristy’ looking places which are highly visible. Do a little trekking through some of the back streets and find a good ol’ portuguese coastal restaurant. The village fisherman bring in the fresh fish each morning, so be prepared for some huge sardines and the like.
Oh yea, Christopher Columbus set sail around 40 miles from there as well. Also, there’s a castle over looking the town!

Hi! I would recommend you Lisbon of course. I love this city, there are so many things to see there. 3 days in Lisbon is great. Then it really depends what you are looking for… In I didn’t like Porto, but Braga is wonderful. In the center/south, I will recommend you Obidos, Tomar, Evora…
I have many pictures on flickr, have a look there: www.flickr.com/photos/lanenalaura

Visit the Algarve, too. Especally Silves, its castle and Alvor, a small fishing village. If you like a nice beach coast, this is definitely a place to visit. Don’t forget Lagos and Sagres, the farthest western point in Europe.

Yes, definately Lisbon. I stayed at Figueira de Foz for a few days. It was very beautiful.
