A question about this place:
What are the *secret* must sees in Ljubljana? It's overall character? I am a young, off-the-beaten-path leaning traveller in my early 20s. Looking for places NOT in guide books. Your favorites, your gems. Thanks!

It’s been almost a year since I’ve been there, so the names of everything are starting to escape me… but ah I LOVED Ljubljana.

  • Drink the night away at the Orto Bar.
  • Late night: go to the Art district/area near the college, here’s where I forget the name… but we were walking around after hours and walked in and JESU was playing!!

Ljubljana… oh well!

The overall character, as you thought, is the real secret of the city. There’s nothing big, fabulous, as far as I can judge. It’s the combination of smaller things, not important but beautiful.

Anyway… a few places I liked:

1. Close to the center there’s a part of the city called Trnovo. You’ll find the Eipprova street. There’s a pub called Sank Pub, which is really worth going to. Next to it is a Pizza place, you can order there and take the pizza to Sank if you want to. People are friendly and hardly any tourists there.

2. In the city center you’ll find the famous triple bridge. If you follow the river up, away from the market on the right hand side, you’ll find a bar just on the river bank. There are some stairs leading you down. The bar is self-service, young folks meet there, a great place.

3. If you follow the river further up, you pass Trnovo, then you’ll find some boats on the left hand side. They host the best bars to hang out on a sunny afternoon.

That’s it, sorry. The rest is waiting to be discovered by you!
