absolutely! first of all, you’re very lucky to be going, so have fun!
when my family and i visited we took an incredible white water rafting trip through a company called Iguana Tours. The staff was amazing, they were so friendly and got you really excited about the trip. I’m not even a big water sports person and i loved it! their website is www.iguanatours.com
I hope that helps you out some, my family did most of the planning, so i dont have too many details about the place—but what i remember most about costa rica is how friendly and beautiful the people are, so anything you do i know you’ll have a great time!

When we went to Costa Rica, we flew in to the airport in Liberia. Its in Guanacasta. We mainly stayed in Tamarindo. June is the start of the rainy season, so it may be difficult to travel to some areas. On the other hand, things should be nice and green. We also visited the volcano at Arenal. The hot springs were great. We also went zip lining in the jungle. Most of our time was spent at the beach. In Tamarindo there is a surfing camp/resort that you can hang out at. The beach is really nice and the sun sets are amazing. One bit of advice – the tide changes quickly, so be careful about putting your stuff down on the beach. Also I had my shoes stolen once when we were at the beach. One really cool thing – whenever it rains, all the locals come down to the beach and start playing soccer. Really cool to watch. Don’t drink the water, you will regret it. Take probiotics before you go, just to be safe. Eat at the places called “sodas” – little open-air local eateries. THey are the best deal for good food. I recommend the casado (which is rice, salad, beans, a vegetable, and a meat (fish, chicken, or beef)) or the pinto gallo (black bean soup with an egg). Both meals are cheap and good. You can find good at upscale places, but expensive. Stay away from the trendy joints that sell things like “Nachos as big as your ass”, the food always sucks and is super expensive. Oh, if you like to drink – ask for pina coladas made with Flor de Cana. It a really smooth rum. Dont’ be afraid to ask for the drinks to be “mas fuerte”. If you have more questions, just ask. It was really amazing. We didn’t make it down to Quepos, so I can’t address specifics about it.

Hi there! My best friend and I were in CR for 3 1/2 months but chose to stay in Quepos for an entire month of that. I have tons of advice but was curious as to what you guys interests are. I just pulled out my travel journal so I have loads of stuff that might help!

I hope to be going back to CR soon. The last time I was there, I spent 1 week in Quepos/ Manuel Antonio. I had a great time. I didn’t stay at the Hotel Byblos but I did visit there bar/ casino once or twice. Byblos looks like it would be a nice place to stay. While in Manuel Antonio, make sure you do a tour of the park, which is awesome and has the best swimming beach. Most of the restaurants in Manuel Antonio are pretty expensive, so if you’re on a budget check out the Sodas in Quepos where you will get good food at a good price. However, a great place for breakfast in Manuel Antonio is called Cafe Malagro.
If you have any specific questions about Costa Rica just ask or you can take a a look at the Costa Rica expat site called www.yourville.com
