Because traffic there is so bad and the weather so damned hot that people spend so much time in them. So they have to turn their cars into living rooms, complete with DVDs, satellite, air conditioning and comfy chairs.

It’s also why Houston consistently ranks near the top of the ‘Fattest Cities’ lists.

The same reason they all buy Starbucks daily.

they just live in them. Plus they are these lovely status symbols. The bigger your car the more money you had to spend on it, you know? Personaly I’m looking for the smallest car possible :)

There ARE some people that are legitimately helpful and fun in this state, not just pretentious and self centered. They were the ones that originally drove 4×4’s that all the wanna-be’s now imitate.

You can usually tell the authentic from the fakers by the tow wench on the front and the well worn trailer hitch and scraped paint in the bed of the truck. And sometimes the gun rack across the back window. They also don’t mind getting mud on the tires or even up the sides and the windows. The good ol’ boys even go so far as to enjoy Muddin’ any chance they get. THAT’s what a 4×4 is really all about. They were the ones that first started jackin’ up the suspension.

But threatening to squish the “Beeemer” in front of you in traffic is a nice perk too ;)
