A question about this place:
I'm going on a cruise there in a month and I want to spend my days on the beach. Is it easy getting there from the port and which areas do you recommend? Thanks!

I would highly recommend taking a taxi to the Paradise Island Atlantis resort to use their private beach. It’s the nicest way to spend time at the beach in Nassau. Look at the cruise excursion list, and at the Paradise Island Atlantis resort website for rates.

I agree with JustSyd – Paradise Island is the way to go (see the photo??). I stayed at the Atlantis once and it really is a top notch resort. Once you step off your cruise ship it’s nothing to hail a cab – in fact, there will more than likely be lots of others who’ll be heading in the same direction. Don’t waste money on a prepaid excursion!! Last year my husband and I went on a cruise, first port was Nassau and we shared a van/cab with another couple and paid something like $8 per person. It’s a short ride; just make sure to allow enough time on the return. Hope you have a great time.

I don’t remember names of specific beaches, but I do know that you will not have any trouble finding them. There are several that are close to the port and local cab drivers will be there to take you wherever you want to go.

Thanks! I was just wondering if there was reliable transportation to and from the port more than specific beaches _. I’m used to going places where I know the locals, so it’s my first time on my own!
