The best thing I ate on my entire trip to Europe was a fresh pretzel at one of the bakeries near Burcherer. My friends and I went a little crazy at the bakery, actually.

Go to the market! There are really beautiful flowers there.

Also, if you go up Mount Pilatus – which you should – there’s a toboggan run that’s a blast.

Don’t miss the lion monument, either.

i definitely second the lion monument… climbing around the city wall was also fun and free (plus you have a great view of the city)

and obviously, the chapel bridge.

then do some shopping

Mt. Pilatus offers fantastic views. The tickets for the aerial tram are very cheap. (The souvenirs at the top of the mountain are not!) The arts center next to the train station is also really neat. I was there in the wintertime, and the roefli (little hash-brown-like things) with rabbit were delicious, as well as the roasted chestnuts!
