A question about this place:
I'm traveling to Searcy, AR for work. On a weekend. Will it be worth it to stay in Little Rock and get up an hour earlier?

Possibly. There isn’t a whole lot in Searcy from what I understand. Little Rock is where you will find things to do if that’s what you’re looking for. By the way Arkansas = AR, Alaska = AK. It’s a common mistake.

You know the worst thing about the AK/AR mix up? I knew about it and typed it wrong anyway (at least I can fix it with the computer).

Thanks for the info. I suspected that might be the case but wanted some confirmation.

It would depend on what you were wanting to do, how much time you had, etc. There’s NOTHING to do in Searcy, so I would say that yeah, more than likely, it’s worth it.

I agree with cellenwade … it just depends on what you are wanting to do while you are here. If you are just here to work and don’t expect to do much else, Searcy is a nice little city, fairly quiet and the traffic’s not that bad except Race Street during the noon hour and the school zones during the morning and afternoon (which, if you are just here for the weekend, you won’t have to worry about that). There are plenty of hotels and restaurants (but don’t expect to have a drink with dinner … White County is dry so none of the restaurants serve alcohol). There’s a movie theater and a couple of coffeehouses, but not much else to do as far as entertainment. So if you are looking for night life and things to do while you are here, then yeah, it may be worth it to you to stay in Little Rock and commute in to Searcy. You’ll find a lot more to do in the “big city” than you will in little ol’ Searcy. And the morning drive from Little Rock coming into Searcy is not nearly as bad as the morning drive from Searcy into Little Rock. Be sure to allow yourself plenty of time though … depending on when you are going to be driving through, there may still be some road construction going on.

Well, I’m going to a convention so I’ll be dealing with people in a work fasion all day. I’d really like to get out and maybe have an adult beverage and do some people watching and general unwinding. It kind of sounds like Little Rock may be more what I’m looking for.
