You could do some shopping on Market Street or around Deansgate, there’s a lot of great stores and stuff to see there. There’s a science and natural history museum that’s cool if you’re interested in that kind of stuff. Also, when you’re inside it, you can overlook where they film the soap “Coronation Street,” and see the set.
Hydes brewery gives tours, I’m pretty sure you have to sign up in advance for one. They show you how they make their beer and also let you try them for free!
If you like indian food at all, visit Rusholme’s Curry Mile, there’s a bunch of great restaurants there – Lal Haweli is a great one.
There are also a ton of nice clubs and bars your could check out. That’s about all I can think of at the moment, but I’m sure other people will have lots of great suggestions. Have fun, Manchester is an amazing city!

Hi Stella,
Sarah’s made some good suggestions. There is also a lot of culture in Manchester. The university’s Whitworth gallery and Manchester Museaum are of very high quality. The City Art Gallery is also impressive: it is also close to the Central Library, whose reading room has a massive, and quite inspiring, dome.
If you’re travelling with a man, I’d also suggest a visit to a fish and chip shop. There’s a steamed pie, called a ‘steak pudding’, which you can buy there, and which also every man will love. The local beers will also be worth trying.
Duncan.

On the Friday night, you could do worse than pop over to Liverpool for (Manchester-native) Mr. Scruff DJing at The Magnet.
