Haha, well if you’re looking for coffee shops I can make a list for you… Other sites I’m not so sure about. Let me know if you’d like that list.

I know that it isn’t Amsterdam, but for 6 Euro, you can take a train to Haarlem, and sometimes there is a big market there with everything from flowers to clothes. It was really nice to go to if you wanted a calmer atmosphere.
I recommend visiting the Anne Frank musuem, but go early or late because there tends to be long lines.
Vondel Park is beautiful, as well.

On the coffeeshops: The local newspaper Spits had a small frontpage article this morning about this new site that shows you all Dutch coffeeshops:
http://www.wietkaart.nl/wietkaart.html
On places to go: I would try to find some of the places people have written about on 43places.com.
With regards to restaurants I can recommend of the following:
http://www.43places.com/tag/restaurant/104351
- Entresol
- Bistro Le Petit Latin
- Onder Ons
Have a great trip !

Vondelpark is really neat (our house is very near at Overtoom), although it’s rather cold now to go outside in the Netherlands (that’s why we are staying in California until it gets better ;). You’ll be missing the great temperature of KL ;). Tons of stuff to do inside in Amsterdam too. Go to “De Dam” and go from there: look for some museums (Madame Tussaud, palace etc.), shopping in “Kalverstraat”, Red Light district… all walking distance… Have fun

Thanks for so many suggestions. I can now plan my days in Amsterdam well, fully packed. :)
Now worry about accommodation over there. Have emailed 3 that suggested in 43places, but all are fully booked. My budget is below Euro 100 for double bed per night, any suggestion?
