I’d definitely recommend Malorone, too. It can be quite a bit more expensive, but you only have to take it once a day, and there are negligible side effects.

I was on Liriam and had no problems, both times I went to Malawi (for about a six month period each time). My doctor told me that it is a one in a million chance for someone to be effected negatively by it. You will have to choose for yourself.I personally would rather be on a strong medicine that prevents malaria. You start it a couple of months before you go, so you could always go off it if you started feeling strange – just don’t cause yourself to do so by being paranoid that it will mess up! (I have heard of that!)
I would also recommend a worm pill – I know its gross, but they get in
the food and water.
Hope you have a great time!

You are the first one I “meet” who considers a worm pill. I will consider your idea! Thank you!

I was on Liriam – no problems.
My only advice is do take a prescription drug. A friend of mine took a (daily) homeopathic tablet—he was the only person on our trip to get Malaria and it wasn’t pretty.
