A question about this place:
I'm going to Chengdu in a little over a week. How do I get to Sichuan University from the airport? Is there a bus or a train or should I just take a cab?

it seems there is no direct bus. Moreover, there is no subway in Chengdu.
So you can take a taxi. It costs about 60 yuan (about 7-8 US dollars). Or you can take the bus and change at exchange stop.
you can take the bus No.303 or No.304.
the passengers and busman can tell you where to change the bus and the number. Please prepare a pen and a notebook for writing and communicating.

I would just take a cab. It is easier and a bit more enjoyable than buses (can get quite crowded at times)

well, actually ,there are buses sending people to downtown from the airport in every 5 mins,it costs 10 yuan ,but the buses will let you off at a 5 star hotle of chengdu.when u get off then u can take a bus or cab.
just make sure u bring a pen or tips written in chinese.

but sorry that i dont really know which bus is gonna take u to Sichuan uni,but every bus stop in Chengdu has a map written in both english and chinese ,it might be coming handy ;)
if u do meet some troubles ,just ask people ,all chengduers are very friendly and hospitable

I suggest to go Sichuan University by bus.It’s cheaper.Here is the detail.
Firstly, take the airport bus in the airport station.The bus is called Number 300 bus.And the bus fee is RMB 10 Yuan. It’s 21 stops to arrive at the downtown of Chengdu—- Tian Fu Square.
Then you should transfer to the bus Number 19.It is about 4 stops to get to Sichuan University.This bus fee is 1 or 2 Yuan, depends on wheter the bus have a aircondition.
If you think the bus-taking solution is painful. You can take a cab. (we don’t have train station near the airport .) The cab fee range from 50 to 80 Yuan. And be sure to pretended to be an expert of Chengdu.Sometimes the driver will ask a very high price. : )
