pomegranates are found natively in Armenia. They were used as part of friezes in Armenian church architecture and in manuscripts.

I´ve seen them in the movie Ararat, a music video by André and on the cover of an Armenian Navy Band album. It seemed curious!

Pomegranates are native to the region, where they have been around for at least 3000 years. They are seen as a symbol of life, abundance, marriage, and fertility, probably because of the many seeds found inside. Some say that a ripe pomegranate has 365 seeds, as many days as a year.
