A question about this place:
Tsar and I will be on Feb 3. If anyone can recommend a great pub/beerhall, or wants to meet, let us know.

sadly, i will not be there, but lived there for quite some time. klub kultralny on szewska is by far my favorite bar. it is kind of a dive, but all sorts of people attend, and the bar staff is the best in krakow.

or, follow ul. sienna to kazimierz, and most any pub there will be wonderful, especially alchemia (or propoganda, but i would be sure not to miss alchemia). pauza on florianska is interesting, and uwaga, on the corner of the maly rynek and tomasza has fuzzy walls and a pornographic counter top. free pub is open really late, and you’ll always find interesting clientele. piekny pies, on jana, is fun, hip, and usually crowded. pod jaszczurami and pasia are dance clubs with college age students and sometime polish mafia.

have fun, and know that i am very jealous that you’ll be in my city. ;)

Thank you for all the tips. I will print this out so Tsar and I can make sure to “inspect” each one. I’m sure it will be fun just bar hopping. How long did you live in Krakow? Were you studying there?

i lived there for several years while studying at jagiellonian. it is a beautiful and charming city. if you decide to have a beer in the middle of the day (as everyone in krakow inevitably does) be sure to visit vis a vis, on the square. i am sure you’ll love krakow. it has a young feel and a vibrance not found in many other places. if you have any other questions about krakow, just let me know. have a great time. -stacie

I couldn’t answer better to this question :)
Stacie haven’t mentioned only my favorite music club / dancing place. It’s on the Wielopole street and it’s called “Lubu Dubu”. It’s actually a couple of small clubs in one building – including a great homo-friendly bar upstairs “Kitsch”.
