Every area has its merits and disadvantages. The trade-offs are something only you can decide.
I prefer western Washington for its temperate climate, accessibility to outdoor activities (spoken from someone who bikes to work 3-4 times a week), geologically interesting areas – mountains/lakes/rivers/volcanoes/glaciers/ocean (not to mention the—all within an hour’s drive, and rocking library system.

the people there are more tolerant of others views and it’s just prettier in general. nice and green with lots of moisture. if you hate it there so much, then come to TX. You’ll really hate it here!!!

From an outside point of view Seattle is shown as this small rainy city with this huge space needle in the center of town…and a completely great music scene. Its nothing of the sort once your there but its got a legendary rumor about the place in the rest of the country and people who like that atmosphere think it would be nicer there.
Im from FL and am still here, and everyone wants to move here. I dont know why either everything is hot and has bugs, yeah we have the beaches but we have red tide have the time in the gulf and sewage run off in the atlantic. Most people are from out of town and are rude, you can get work anywhere but they dont pay anything and you can rarely get full time, no benefits, and you can get fired for no reason at any time legally (which usually happens over the summer when season is over)

Wow! I mean, who could hate living here? The total diversity of things to do is astounding. From museums and all types of music and dining, fine & otherwise, to fishing, sail boarding, skiing and diving. Mountain climbing and hiking the Crest trail. Taking scenic drives. Let’s not forget Mt St Helen’s. There’s shopping and sight seeing and even spas. There’s natural hot springs, snow covered mountains and green trees. And beaches and lakes and rivers. There’s the more arid and warmer east side of the state. It too, offers many of the same things that western WA offers. I have the best of both sides in the gorge. Beautiful hot summers and cold snowy winters. What more could a person ask for?

I personally came to Washington as one of the states most diverse in beauty and life. In fact, now that I’ve been here since the mid 90’s, it’s plain to see that life literally sticks to anything that sits immobile long enough. Moisture, of course, isn’t a problem. I love the plethora of trees, ferns, mountains, etc.
