A question about this place:
Just to amend my previous question: I am single and in my early twenties. Is there enough 'life' to Durango to keep it interesting? Thanks again!

Durango is a college town, it is hip and is a mecca for people who love the outdoors. People don’t just rock climb, they ice climb… extreme is the middle name for Durango Extreme Colorado. There is nightlife but depending where you are from, you could find it limiting, but if you love the outdoors, and a smaller town that is not pretentios you will love it!

I grew up in Durango. Here’s my experience:

Jobs are very difficult to come by. I have a friend who was as skilled as I was, yet in Dallas I was making between two and three times as much money as he does. I could never talk him into moving to the city though, because he loves the outdoors too much.

Rafting, kayaking, skiing, snowboarding, mountain climbing, hiking, off-roading, swimming, golf, waterskiing, camping… the list goes on.

Desertmoonwoman said it well. Durango has a small nightlife scene. If you love the outdoors, you’ll be in heaven. If you don’t, it won’t have enough life to keep it interesting.

I just graduated from Fort Lewis College. I lived in Durango for 5 years. I must say I had a great time living there. If you are going to school there you will meet great, down to earth, real people. But there is always something to do. You have the outdoors at your doorstep!! and on a weekend most young crowds go to the Lost Dog. If you enjoy wine, my fav was Jean Pierre’s, They have a wine bar there, I always went to. Then there is pint night at Steamworks on Thursdays. You usually find a young crowd here. Feel free to ask any more questions. BTW Durango is a huge biking town..:) I loved it!! cheers!
