Liberians are very nice, as are most west-africans. But keep in mind they are recovering from a 20-yr war: there may be sensitivities…

Nonetheless, be aware that as a traveller, you WILL be perceived to be richer than average (which you very likely will be) and thus be solicited.

It’s a good idea to always have small change. If you have the nerve, you can nicely but firmly say no and move on.

Monrovia is apparently very safe right now, but UNMIL is still here patrolling at night. It’s safe to walk during the day, and it’s ok if you’re in groups at night.

Don’t take any unnecessary risks though.
