Ah, Cantwell. Well, it’s tiny. Really, it’s not even a town. So don’t be expecting a Hilton.
Of course there are some nice campgrounds in the area because it’s so close to Denali. But in the winter, camping isn’t so pleasant.
Spend a little time looking on google for any information. Also, I’d recommend the Milepost. This is like the bible of Alaskan travel.

I stayed at Lazy J Cabins in 2003 and had a good experience there. It was nothing fancy by any means, but our room was clean and comfortable. We could hear through the walls though, lol. The people running it were really nice. We went out snowshoeing and they said to make sure we let them know where we’re going and how long we plan to be out so if we don’t get back on time they’d send someone out looking for us. There was a restaurant below the rooms. I remember it was a little expensive, but for being in the middle of nowhere and nothing else around, it is to be expected. I remember that I had a burger and it was awesome – maybe because I was starving. I may be able to help if you have other questions.

Hey There! Cantwell is a very small town about 30 miles South of where I live – I’m not sure if the Lazy J is even open anymore – I heard the owners were selling the place… There is a place a little further into town off of the main highway called The Longhorn – they have small rooms… Why Cantwell? I think there might be a B&B that’s open year round too… In Healy, which is just North of Cantwell – There is the Totem Inn that has a bar and grill, The Nordhaven Inn, and several B&B’S (The Lakeview B&B is the nicest and Pat and Windell’s B&B is the cheapest) Hope this helps! – Feel free to ask any questions since I live here…
