Hey
The last time I went to HK I stayed at YMCA (www.ymcahk.org.hk). It was nice there and the price was good too – about HK$250 a night. I’m sure you won’t regret staying there :)

i’ve always lived in hongkong for free since my family lives there. however, i tried to look for a decent cheap hotel for my boyfriend when he was planning to go there, and was shocked by the prices. we live in causewaybay, so expect really expensive 5star hotels there. if you would like to have something cheap but really close to the heart of hongkong, may i suggest that you ask around for apartments. most are cheap and decent enough. as for food, god, food there is expensive. try those small restaurants in the streets. they have great cantonese food at a cheap price. also try going to mongkok, their national museum, and have a ride on their junks (the old ships). also go to ocean park, the huge buddha, victoria peak, their convention center. dont forgot to try their bullet train to go to and from the airport!

Great reply! Thanks! As for clubbing, do you have any recommendations? Good bars/clubs/etc and/or good neighborhoods for drinking and rumbling?

oh yeah, go to wan chai for some nightlife, try out some shisha and just have fun. renaissance hotel offers a ladies night in their bar, just 100HKD with all you can drink hard drinks. try their science museum too. and for your shopping needs, go to sogo or times square. a lot of places to shop, and you can even cross the hongkong border and visit other china provinces.

Robert Black College rents out some of the rooms in their dorm. They are very nice, complete with internet and a great view. But it is on quite the hill if you’re not taxiing. Call and pretend to be nice. Good luck!

The last time i was there i was staying in Standford Hotel in Mongkok. It is very conveniently located as it is just a block away from the famous “woman street” in hongkong where u can get many goods at a lower price. besides it is also very near to the mongkok MTR station and also the Kowloon Railway station, all within walking distance.
It is a 3 start hotel.

Thanks! I’ve actually booked a room now, at the LKF by Rhombus (hope it’s any good!), on a recommendation from a local.
As for things to visit, do you have any suggestions? We’ll be staying for four full days and nights and are open to anything. We just want to see as much as possible and experience the geist of HK to the fullest extent imaginable.
So…I’m open for ideas!

LKF??? what’s this?
1 day needed for Lantau Island..
First take MTR (subway) to Tung Chung,
then take skyrail http://www.np360.com.hk to Ngong Ping.
It will spend 2-3 hrs there at Ngong Ping & the Big Buddha
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lantau_Island
You can taste vegetable meal at the Po Lin Monastery.
After that, take bus route 21 http://www.newlantaobus.com/schedule-frame21.htm
to Tai O to experience our fishing town.
next day visit the peak, if u like to walk for 1.5 hrs, you can pick the peak walk for a nice Victoria harbour view http://www.discoverhongkong.com/eng/touring/hkwalks/ta_walk_walk8.jhtml or walk down to HK University.
At night, Causeway Bay is nice place to get crowed which live through our speedy city. If still have time before dinner, get into Island South town – Stanley. It’s nice place to relax and take shots.
3rd, walk along Yau Ma Tei and Mong Kok to shop around. And Wong Tai Sin Temple http://www.discoverhongkong.com/eng/touring/hkiidistricts/ta_dist_wong1.jhtml
