Oh, for sure try to get out in nature. Rocky Mountain National Park is only about an hour away from Fort Collins. The Poudre Canyon is also nice if you’d like to go for a hike (various trails there). Even if you don’t get to hike, or if the weather is not cooperating, I would go for a drive in one of the canyons or even in the Park. The scenery is just great.

Also, if you like beer, you are in luck. There are a TON of excellent microbreweries, and almost every bar has great stuff on tap, even the real dives. Be sure to check out New Belgium Brewery – you can get a tour and free tastes of their great beer. It’s a very cool place – besides making great beer, they do a lot of great stuff for their environment and also for their workers. Worth a look!

First of all—bring warm clothes.
If you take funniculee loves autumn’s advice and come to RMNP, it’s COLD (I live about 10 minutes away from the entrance, trust me) and very windy.
There’s a restaurant in downtown Ft. Collins that is one of my favorites—it’s called Fish, and is on Oak Street. That puts you in a good spot for wandering around and sampling nightlife in Old Town. The Poudre is gorgeous for a drive or a hike, and if you are feeling really ambitious and want to take home photos that nobody else is going to believe, drive up to Red Feather Lakes and go to the Great Stupa. You’ve missed the Dalai Lama’s visit by 2 months, but it’s still a spectacular building and a really neat place.
