It is an amazing place, but to be honest with you, I’ve only been once and it was during the summer. But I’m sure it’s just as nice during the winter. If you’re going to stay at a hostel, I’d recommend Balmer’s. You need to make reservations several weeks, maybe months in advance if going during summer. (sorry about the poor picture…I was paragliding!)

Hey! I’ve been to Interlaken once, and it was in the summer as well (June). As far as I know, it’s one of the biggest extreme sporting spots on the globe! The picture I’m attaching is from when we went canyoning – which is sort of like white water rafting without the raft – that’s me jumping off of a cliff! We stayed at the Funny Farm, which is across the street from Balmer’s, and loved it. And we only booked our reservation a day or two in advance. Happy traveling!!

My vacation there was in the summer, too, but that doesn’t matter, because the mountains are so high that you can ski (or learn to ski) almost all year round. I think it depends on your preferences – I’m not a big snow person, so going there in the winter isn’t exactly my cup of tea (as they get a loooooooot of snow in the winter).

i only went there once this past january… i went snowboarding and it was wonderful. there are many other people who dont snowboard/ski, but there are other activities to do. i went to the top of mt. jungfroujoch (the highest mountain in europe) its beautiful up there. its about 15,000ft and they have a small ice cave and great scenery especially sunrise and sunset. interlaken is a small town so its walkable and there are shops and restaurants there too. i have yet to go during summer…
