Haven’t been to Fairbanks in a while. If you are concerned about city lights it sounds like you are going in the winter (they don’t use lights in the summer – lol). You might check out the little town of North Pole (no, really, I’m not kidding, Norht Pole Alaska. It;s about 15 miles east.

i used to work at 7 Gables and the lady that works there is kinda nuts. its located on Birch st which is off of Geist rd, which isnt completely outside of the city.

i would recommend A Cloudberry Lookout. its on Cloudberry rd and its 4 stories high with a great view of its surroundings. heres the site.

I second the cloudberry recommendation and also recommend avoiding 7 gables. She IS kinda nuts!

Sorry this is a little late, but I would highly recommend the All Seasons Inn in downtown Fairbanks. Mary is lovely and the inn is located close to pretty much everything you could need. They also have weekly rates in the winter. I don’t recall how the light pollution is, though, but it’s in a nice area of town that’s not too close to the “big” buildings.
