Can’t really help you with Opfikon and the airport.

One tip you might find useful:
It’s much easier to find an accomodation in Switzerland if you are already here, at least if you want to rent a flat. They will ask you for some certificates you can only get if you’ve already moved to Switzerland. So you might want to stay at an intermediate place for the first few weeks.

Have you tried http://www.bnb.ch? I know someone who lives there and runs a BnB in a guest room, but she is pretty far from the airport.
