A question about this place:
Our travel plan includes Split, Hvar and Dubrovnik. I heard that Plitvice Park is a must see place. How to get there leaving from Split? One day at Plitvice is enough? Any suggestion will be helpful!!!

Plitvice is very nice park with waterfalls. One day is plenty, as for transportation – there should be buses, but check. There is a camping place and rooms for rent available not far from entrance to Plitvice park.

Plitvice is a beautiful park. It’s a great place to spend the day as you walk through. Not sure about transportation (we had a car and we drove there), but you should really try to fit it in.

Plitvice is a beautiful place – you can take a bus from Split, Zagreb and other major cities. There was a hotel right outside of the park, I didn’t stay there, but it looked nice. You can also rent rooms not too far away. There was a bus that headed to Zagreb at about 9pm.

If you go, make sure to bring a camera!

I would have replied sooner ,but I was visiting my son in Montana—another great place!

Plitvice is worth a one day side trip if you like waterfalls and beautiful scenery. Plan on a lot of walking – we kept seeing signs “to the boat” (at the end of the trail, you cross the water is a small boat) but it was a long hike .

Excellent photos of the lakes and waterfalls are available on-line.

I would also recommend Omis – on the coast south of Split. We took a small boat upriver to an old mill for lunch. Bread baked in outdoor ovens. Ask locally if this is still available, as I was there 27 years ago!
