The Prague airport is located about 15 km/9 miles from the city center. It takes approximately 20 – 30 minutes to reach the center by car and about 30 minutes on public transport (bus + subway).

After you get off your flight in Prague, you will have several options of arriving at your destination: public transportation, taxi, a shuttle company, or a pickup previously arranged with your hotel.

Public transportation provides the cheapest way of getting to downtown Prague. It is easy to use, clean, reliable, and runs frequently. Taking public transport will include some walking and the buses and subway can be crowded at peak hours, so if you have a lot of luggage, you may want to take a taxi or use a door-to-door transfer service.

Below is a price comparison for a 2-person transfer between the Prague airport and the city center (prices are as of June 2006):

Public transportation
40 K?

Taxi
AAA Taxi: 450 K?
City Taxi: possibly below 400 K?

Shuttle companies
?EDAZ (shared ride): 480 K?
Prague Transfers: 550 K?
Prague Airport Shuttle: 650 K?

Hotel pickup
Varies by hotel but usually from 600 K? up

Both Orly and Roissy Charles de Gaulle have direct train connections from the centre.

I know Beauvais doesn’t have a subway connection to the the center, but Charles de Gaulle does.
I don’t know about Orly, tough.

Regarding Prague, when I was there I got to the center using the bus+subway.

Jenfur,

pochade has given you most of the details, personally I had no problems getting a taxi into the city from the airport. They probably hike the prices up for tourists getting off the plane, but when you’re hungry and tired after your flight and can’t be bothered trekking around for a bus, a taxi driver who will take you to your door is very appealing!!

Re: Prague, taxi drivers are known in Prague to rip off tourists so generally avoind them. However, if you aren’t in the mood for the bus and subway, do the cab. I took the Cedaz bus with a group, and I think it’s cheaper than a regular taxi b/c they fill it up and then drop off people at their respective hotels. For the bus, I think #119 takes you to Dejvice Metro, but ask the hotel/hostel where you are staying what they suggest. If you need any Prague or beyond tips, let me know.
