RB—not sure it works like that, the river is permit only and once you are on the river, its anywhere from 7-21 days, the only place that you could do something similiar is Phantom Ranch via mule, and then on the river for 10 days,

In my opinion the only way to have the odyssey of the Grand Canyon is by floating down river on a non motorized 10-21 day raft trip! The river is the only way to access certain hiking canyons that are mind blowing…and the peacefulness of the environment is lost when sped by on a motorized rig…

But if time is short, any visit however it might be is great!
