The Hansel and Gretel park is rather interesting, I think it’s just called the German park. Also, the street fair they hold every Sunday is amazing, it’s a couple of blocks long, and you can get a real taste of Curtiba there. Just ask your hotel and I’m sure they’ll tell your cabbie were to go. If you like shopping, the Rua de Flores is also a must see, and resonably priced. The tower in the middle of the city is like the Space Needle in Seattle, and gives a 360 degree view of the city, which is absolutely spectacular. See if there are any soccer games being played, and try to go see one in the stadium, the Curtibans are in love with soccer. Last year they won a championship and it sounded like the city was exploding because of all the fireworks. If the Wire Opera House is open, go see a show, the venue itself is amazing, being set in a reclaimed quarry, and partially over water. Ask your hotel if there is a local farmers market during the week, as there is one by the hotel Parthenon, there you can feed yourself on about 5 reals and get real food. Finally, some local food to try is Sagu, a red wine tapioca specific to Parana, and Papaya Cream, which is heavenly. Enjoy your visit!!
