Hi, my favorite excursion in Switzerland was a train ride throught the Alps from Luzern to Locarno (if you are planning on visiting switzerland you must visit Locarno, it’s sooo beautiful). The train travels trough some amzing valleys and runs along side some beautiful alpine lakes. It truely was the highlight of my trip.

I assume that you’re referring to what is known in Switzerland as Les Diablerets, the quiet valley area in the general Lake Geneva regional area. Never been there, but Les Diablerets is well known for its summer skiing, all due to the glacier found there.

Most of my Swiss experiences were further north, though I’ve had friends that I trust tell me that Les Diablerets is their favorite area.

Hi there,

I go to Switzerland fairly regularly to the Valais Alps area – the bottom left quarter of the country. If you are after somewhere quite and beautiful you can’t really beat Arolla or Evolene. Stunning scenery, nice small villages, good coffee and cheap camping.

I’ve also been to the Jura area a few years ago – the Norhern part near Neauchatel – Again it’s pretty. Rolling hills, lush green meadows and famous for the swiss cows – that’s not an insult to the women!

Personally I prefer the more dramatic scenery of the Alps though.

Hi

My brother in law married a Swiss girl from Falera, near Laax in the Graubunden area ( nearest well known town is probably Davos). Very small and unspoilt area.
