It’s been a while since I’ve lived there, but I lived in West Peoria for a while. I can’t think of any bed and breakfasts per se, but there is a fancy castle style hotel there called Jumers which may or may not be more expensive than you want. Jumers is, however, right smack in W. Peoria. There is a b&b that’s not terribly far from West Peoria that’s got an internet site (below) as well. I don’t know much more than that about it.
West Peoria is mostly either houses or Bradley University and the neighborhoods around the university have become student rented houses or fraternity houses.

Well I can tell you who bought it because we spent New Years Eve weekend there last year just after the million dollar renovation. It was purchased by the Radisson Hotel Co and is now called the Radisson.
I saw the comment about West Peoria being the bad part of town, and this cracks me up. As for the bad part of town, I have yet to find the GOOD part of town in this dirty city. I am from W. Palm Beach originally and find Peoria very lacking in culture, arts, entertainment, decent places to stay OR live. Sorry, just my opinion.
My first week here, my hubby just went on and on about the Lakeview Museum and my being an art collector, I was real excited about going. Oh man, give me a break, it took us all of 15 minutes to see it all. :-)

totally- the radisson would be a great place to choose—still very boutique, just newer and nicer (though I miss the old juners!) anyway, west peoria is a lovely part of town. I lived on kellogg for over a year after I graduated from bradley, and it was such a friendly, charming place—one of the last old school, nostalgic family neighborhoods in peoria, really. I think you’ll find the radisson is perfect. otherwise, there’s always downtown, which is very close. pere marquette—that’s another unique, old hotel.

Can’t find a decent place to live?? Peoria has been rated the best metroplitan area in cost of living and in another one as the 51st best metroplitan area and one of the pros was the attractive residential areas. I don’t know were you live but there are many beautifual homes and condos throughout the Peoria area – many found in North Peoria, Grandview, Moss-High, Knolls, Edgewild, as well as others. I should know something about homes since my home has been featured in Trends, Art and Architecture, and in the Chicago Tribune. Peoria has a large array of housing, including bad areas as any city has, in all price ranges including over $1 million dollars. A home by my architects was recently listed for 2.5M and sold. Lakeview is small and can be disappointing, but volunteer to help out the new 100+ museum being built in downtown. On last note, Peoria is not dirty. I have traveled around the US and the world and I would not classify it as dirty. Paris, Amsterdam and Pittsburgh are dirty.
By the way, I grew up in West Peoria. Although not the wealthy part of town, it is clean, and has several nice modest homes and brick ranches and close to Moss-High Histroic District. West Peoria is a suburb of Peoria.
Also, I have been to southern Florida and you could not pay me to live there. I find the Miami area to be dirty outside of downtown and in the suburbs and I cannot say that I have an appreciation of the arts in Miami either and I have a classical music background with interest in all the arts.

well, i visited peoria and ended up using a coupon i found for an average cheap motel on war memorial way.
i don’t know when i will be going back to illinois, but i think that i will save my b&b money for other trips and keep using the tourist coupons for motel 6 type places in the midwest. thanks for all the advice!
