It’s been a while for me but I still remember the deserted beaches on the far side of the island: white sand and clear blue water, though a little rough. Also, at Chankanaab park, you can rent snorkeling equip. and just walk into the water or just sit on the beach and they’ll bring you drink…something for everyone!

Cozumel has some really beautiful areas for snorkeling. We went through the cruise line excursion but like Amy said, there are other options!
If you get the chance, make sure you snorkel there. It is gorgeous!
Have a great time! What cruise line are you going on? What other ports will you be stopping at? Is this your first cruise or have you cruised before?

I’ve cruised a few times before, and I like a balance of ship excusions and exploring on my own. We’re going to Jamaica and Grand Cayman as well. I love snorkeling, definitely want to get some in on Cozumel!

We rented a scooter and drove around the entire island. We had a great time. Also ate a a little restaurant at the far end of the island and we snorkeled a little ways north of the dock at a resort. The cost for snorkeling was only 5 dollars and the experience right from the beach was fantastic!

Playa San Francisco has a small beach but it’s a nice one with showers and facilites to change and clean up after lolling in the sand. The beach is near nifty shops, fun bars and restaurants.
Xel-Há Eco-Park and Xcaret Eco-Park are also worth checking out, both natural parks with swimming and lots of other attractions.

Thanks so much for all your help everyone – I’m sailing in 3 days, and I’m really excited! Thinking about Chankanaab or Playa San Francisco… can’t wait!
