A question about this place:
I am going to be here for a semester with an abroad program: when is the best time of the year to go - September thru December, or January thru April?

I was only there in May which is not quite in the times you’ve listed. But I have heard that Tuscany in the Fall is DIVINE!

Okay, great! Thank you so much for your help, I’ll do that then :) I really didn’t know too much the weather in Italy during either of those times but I think being there in the fall sounds really nice.

Now I’ll have to see how cold it’ll be then. I’m from Wisconsin so I know serious cold, but I hope it won’t be like that!

I’d go in fall, definitely

I was there in may as well. Stayed in the heart of Firenze. The weather was really cool during that time so I would suggest to go during the January-April. It really depends if you like cool or warm weather. I live in Miami, so the cool weather was great for me. :)

I was there September-December. It’s an amazing time and the weather is great! If you have any other questions, drop me a line…. Florence was the most amazing experience of my life.

Thank you! As my time to leave for Florence approaches I’m sure I’ll have many questions to ask you! I’m not leaving untill the fall of next year but I wanted to start filling out all the paperwork early to get it all out of the way.

I think the hardest part will be deciding what and how much to bring with me!

I read that you were from Wisconsin in the above responses—my roommates were all from there and they didn’t have any problem with the weather… it never got really, really cold while I was in Florence.

My email is sara.e.miller@gmail.com, if you ever want to ask questions. I love talking about my Florence experience… and I’m so glad you’ve decided to study abroad. It will seriously change your life… and Florence is a great place to live, and a great base for exploring Europe. You are going to have such a fabulous experience.

Also, as for the packing business, I learned that if I packed my clothes in gallon size ziplocs and squeezed the air, I could fit quite a bit more. Also, I put all of my sundries in one suitcase… so it was empty on the return trip…. I put all of my souveniers in that bag. Works out very well.
