I don’t think jobs are that hard to come by, if you are qualified and responsible you can get a job, may take a while but you will find something.

So Brian, you think jobs are hard to come by? Menial? Low-paying? All of the above?
If so, do some folks work in Vancouver (B.C.) where the jobs are more plentiful and the money better?

It depends on the job. I think it is hard for people who just graduated to find a job in their field—but I also think the jobs are highly competitive becasue Bellingham is a great place to live. I found that many overqualified people apply for lower paying jobs just so they could live in Bellingham. I don’t blame them. Bellingham is a great place. I don’t think people work as much in Vancouver because the commute is bad (especailly the wait at the border). It would be easier to work in Seattle.

I think it depends on what you do and what type of job you’re looking for. From my experience, there are so many college students, that most companies nees employees with experience – so if you didn’t just graduate from college, you’ll have an advantage. I think what Brian said about people working lower paying jobs just to live in B’ham is true. It’s worth it though. Good luck.
