From 1874 through 1915, this was a U.S. Life-Service Service Station, and from 1915 through 1954, it served as a U.S. Coast Guard Station. It was abandoned and fell into disrepair, but an association was formed to preserve and renovate it to tell the story of the men who risked their lives serving at the station.
