Hot chocolate to go

My friends and I got hot chocolate to-go and wandered back into the night. Italian hot chocolate was so rich it was almost solid! Delicious.

overpriced..not the best

We didn’t eat there…friends had bad service, bad food, but the little store looked intriguing. We found the service friendly, and bought a few nicely wrapped chocolate boxes as gifts. The chocolates? Just ok.

A tip I have about this place

Remember Max Brenner’s name if you’re trying to find this place and don’t take the address with you. Finding it was quite a challenge, in spite of the articles my husband found on his Treo while we were looking. The article said it’s at 16th Street & Broadway, which doesn’t exist. It’s actually just off of Union Square at about 14th & Broadway. It’s just diagonally across Broadway from the Virgin Records store, one of the easiest to spot landmarks in Union Square. Not sure why most articles don’t mention that, but it’s easy to find when you know that.

The service isn’t that great, but hopefully it’ll improve with time. The chocolate is amazing and well worth putting up with the so-so service.

The last time I went to this place

I went back on my birthday and tried some sort of chocolate cake and the waffle, both of which the waitress highly recommended. Still I found them just OK.

The service was still slow, and there was a line waiting to be seated when many tables were not taken.

I prefer Michel Cluizel a couple blocks away. They’re more serious about their chocolate. City Bakery is another good choice if all I want is something sweet.
