Worth visiting!
A review of this place: The best general lab
Of the various general-use computer labs at ECU, this one was always my favourite. I would spend many hours a day there beofre I switched over the the computer science lab.
Kim Lab always seems much more inviting than the other general labs. Austin is cold and all ‘Don’t do this or that or we’ll ban you forever!’ and is always crowded. Kim Lab was often crowded, but still seemed friendlier.
I always sat in the back of the back roo. I usually tried to stick to the ame one or two computers, as back then they only had IE, NEtscape 4, and eventually Netscapr 6/7 on some of the computers. I would install Mozilla on ‘my’ machines.
The biggest problem with this lab was when they’d kick us out of the back room for a class-mostly ECON and POLS-but often they’d have enough seats that if you were there when they started, they wouldn’t worry about you being there.
Once or twice I came across a computer logged left logged in with admin privileges, but usually running command.com/cmd had to be done using the ‘Open’ dialogue and then still had restrictions. Yay for lax admins!
