Centraal Station Amsterdam

Good place to buy a map if you don’t have one, and there are change machines for the train ticket machines (which I could have used earlier).

This city is just plain fantastic! I have always said, if I was ever to ‘get lost’ anywhere, and stay, I would choose Amsterdam! It is a wonderful, colorful place, with very friendly people and great food, low crime rates (So I have been told) and lots to do….from a simple bicycle ride through town, to a canal boat ride, to the trolly, to a cafe or the Red Light District…i would safely say that you could not be bored when visiting Amsterdam. I am sure it might get boring if you lived there, but visiting Amsterdam is positively wonderful. My wife has never been there, so I certainly plan on going one day with her…A great place!

I left my bag on a train. Lost and Found place is deep inside the station. They found it and I got it back next day. I was so happy. :)

A classically 19th century pile, to be sure, but somehow less oppressive than some of the other train stations of that era that I’ve seen—feels sleeker somehow, and its location on the water makes it the prime way to get into the city whether by train or by air via Schiphol and transit from there. Hope to see it again whenever I make a return visit!
