Charles Fort

It was overcast but not raining, so we hopped into the car and set out for Charles Fort, a star shaped fort built in 1677 in Summer Cove, on Kinsale harbour. First we had to visit the loo, then we walked past the gift shop to the opposite side away from the tour group.

Its so weird to think that a community was living there. Sally and I walked down one enclosed alley to try and get a unique view of the harbour, but were driven back by the stench. Another tourist walked by and observed “pee-pee?”. Oui, monsieur, eau de pee-pee.

There was a little history museum, etc. and we bought a pamplet to go with it, but I figure you can click on the link above to read more if ya wanna (I’ll provide the pictures). Personal opinion is this was fun to walk thru and had great views of the harbour and Ford Fort across the way. Worth the price of admission.
