I adore Cass Corridor! So much to see and do. So many interesting people. So much music. So much good food. It’s not very large but it has a lot of history in Detroit culture and it has some wonderful spots to sip a brew, drink wine, eat healthy or just chill out with your peeps in a cozy environment.

Cass Cafe, Traffic Jam, Motor City Brewery, Honest Johns, The Bronx and Old Miami are the biggest standouts for me.

Spend time in Cass Corridor, don’t listen to your parents and be afraid of it, beneath its urban facade lies some of the true beauty of Detroit.

I used to live here.... by zimbeline

Although it has a reputation for being the belly of the beast that is Detroit, it was the best 4 years of my life. In the thirteen or so places I have lived around metro Detroit and the country, it was the most incredible, diverse, vibrant community I’d ever lived in. It’s changed quite a bit in the 12 years or so I’ve been away, but I think I’d move back in a heart beat if I had the opportunity. Although, the old adage, “you can never go back,” is probably painfully true even in this case.

The Basics by okayto

Famous (infamous) neighborhood that extends down Cass from Wayne State University (Warren) to downtown (75). The neighborhood is vibrant and alive near campus, and gets progressively sketchier as one nears downtown. In this area you’ll find Avalon Breads, Motorcity Brewing Works, Traffic Jam and Snug, all eating/drinking establishments worth checking out.

Lots of old apartment buildings in this area, and warehouses (closer to downtown) that are quickly being turned into lofts. Gentrification is creeping in, for better or worse.
