Camden State Park

Beware of visiting around the end of May! We stopped here to hike the Hiking Club trail on our way to Sioux Falls, and the park was suffering from an infestation of forest tent caterpillars. They were everywhere, crawling across all surfaces, spinning webs all over, and dropping from the trees like raindrops (glad we were wearing hats!). What started out as, “Oh, look, a cute caterpillar!” ended up being somewhat disgusting experience.

We did complete the trail, and park is beautiful, so it’s definitely worth visiting. Just try to avoid the caterpillars.
