Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting

Not worth it. The crowds are ridiculous. You’ll be standing outside for about 3 hours before you see the tree light up. Two minutes later the crowd is already heading home.

Watch it on TV instead. You’ll see more on TV than you will if you’re actually there.

I spent the first hour sandwiched between people around the corner near ninetendo world. You could just hear the live music, but not well enough to bother. Then finally with about half an hour to go they let some of us through to get a clear view. Then it was like, ok, they’re turned on now.

But you know what? I had so much fun, and wouldn’t have missed it for the world. It’s just one of those classic new york experiences. The crowd sardines was part of the fun!

its nice to visit any day BESIDES THE night of the christmas tree lighting… its horrible.. and crowded.. and cold! and youre there like 3 hours ealier tjust to try to get a decent spot and 10 seconds after its lit and everyone “ooos” and “ahhhs” , everyone turns around and heads home.. its not worth it.. just stay home and watch it on televison
