A tip I have about this place
Don’t try to walk across the insanely busy traffic circle that surrounds the Bell Tower. Use the underground passage (called the Subway) that takes you safely beneath the madness to the Tower grounds. There’s a booth in the Subway, too, where you can buy your admission ticket.
One word of caution: the Subway can be crowded, and it’s a popular spot for pickpockets. I chased off a guy who was trying to reach into my backpack. Pay attention to your cell phone, handbag, or backpack!

The Bell Tower, Xi'an, China
The Bell Tower is located in the heart of Xi’an and is home to thousands of antique bells. Visitors can climb up it and get a good view of the city and neighboring Drum Tower. Both towers were built in the 14th century. There’s a huge bell at the top which emits a rather satisfying, resonating sound when struck with an accompanying log. The inside of the tower is unbelievable. There are bells of all sizes and shapes. The ceilings have been painted in different motifs depicting ancient stories and legends. There are daily musical performances held at the tower and for a small price, you can see a group of artists perform with the bells.
